…because that seems to be the only time I update anyways for some reason…. Well I got home last night and am ready for a busy but fulfilling weekend. Even though I have lots of plans I still have plenty of free time so give me a call if you want to do something(see prior post for numbe if you don’t have it.)

Almost home…..

15 Jun 06

Well….I am doing some last minute packing and some last minute stuff to my car for the trip tomorrow.  Eat a nice relaxing dinner with my buddy and his wife tonight, finish putting everything in my car, and get a good night of sleep before my drive home tomorrow. Can't wait to see everyone for the next couple of weeks.  If anybody wants to do anything just give me a call cause I will be up for about anything.  This is how much I care about random people calling me…..720-206-4947…..go ahead and prank call me cause I am crazy anyways.

Well I just got back from 15 days training to be a Noncommissioned Officer at Fort Hood, TX. It basically meant getting 4-5 hours of sleep, being on my feet in the hot sun a lot of the day, trying to stay awake in boring classes involving memorizing many various references to ARs, FMs, and DA PAMs, and having no personal time and staying in uniform 24 hours a day. At least it is over and I was one of the top people in the class meaning I made the Commandant's List. I missed making Sgt on June 1st by a few points so no I have to wait until the 15th of next month to see if I can make it for July. I am a little bummed out about that and also about not being able to make it to the wedding. At least I am gonna be able to drive home for Memorial Day weekend and for 2 weeks at the end of June. Also this really cheered me up as well.

Well the promotion board was a success…now I get 2 weeks in the heat at Fort Hood with people yelling at me all the time and nit-picking everything I do at the Primary Leadership Development Course.  At least if all goes well and the minimum points needed for promotion stay low then I will get promoted to Sgt on June 1st.  I am trying as hard as I can to make it for the wedding but a) getting days off of work to come home is hard and b) I don't get back from Fort Hood until the morning of the 20th anyways….they told me even if they don't let me go back that weekend then at least I will be able to visit home for Memorial Day.  Also I will be back from June 19th to July 2nd.  It will be a lot easier to get back more often now that I finally broke down and got a car.

sigh… my only relaxation is playing Guitar Hero after a long day of work and then hours of studying for the promotion board……

So yesterday my platoon had an inspection of our rooms and all our gear.  So I had been staying up till 3am every night this week and still getting at at 5:15am every morning for PT.  Which I guess sorta payed off since my gear and room were the only one that were even acceptable but that I surpassed the standard so they gave me today off.  Although I guess all the not sleeping and all the work I had been doing just burned me out because I went in this morning for a random urinalysis and was so dizzy I could hardly walk plus I just started throwing up everywhere.  Luckily the urinalysis guy took one look and said I look like something inappropriate for here and told me to just go home.  I guess all my hard work is paying off even though it now brings me even more work since I have to study for the Soldier of the Month board in January as preparation for the promotion board in March.  So if all goes well I could be a SGT by my birthday.  I am also really excited about being home again next week.  See you all then.

A) I donate to charity because most of the time a charity will come up and we are not allowed to go home from work until we have 100% participation and B)  Isn’t affirmative action sort of paradoxical?  It forces equality while denying freedom and in the end doesn’t create a very equal system…
